08/25/05 IM and Breast Practice

WARMUP: 1000
With Zura Alpha Fins, swim continuously through:
200 head-lead drill IM
200 hand-lead drill IM
200 single-arm drill IM
200 2L/2R drill IM
200 combo IM

WARMUP KICK SET: 250
EZ kicking to warm up the knees. Kick twice through the following:
25 UW breast kick
25 hand-lead kick on back
25 hand-lead kick on stomach
25 head-lead kick on back
25 head-lead kick on stomach

KICK SET: 500
With kickboard.
5 X 100 breast kick on 2:45 sendoff with 10 Rocket Launchers before each 100.
I tried to even-split each 100, i.e., second 50 is the same speed as the first 50, and tried to descend time on the set. Wasn’t entirely successful at this. I had to really push the second 50s to finish them in the same time as the first 50s. I got the overall descend, however (1:55…1:53…1:50…1:47…1:45).

EXPERIMENT SET: 400
With Zura Alpha fins.
I wanted to experiment a bit with swimming with those plastic toy “rings” on my arms and in my hands. Tried a bit of everything.

BREAST SET: 450
With Alpha fins.
6 X 75 swum as 25 UW breast + 25 AW breast + 25 dolphin on back. Just nice and easy, trying to feel a connection from fingertips to shoulders.
