Back from a LONG drive to New York, then to Ohio, finally able to get back in the pool.
1,000 warm up
200 free, 300 pull – alternating freestyle and breaststroke, 200 kick, 100 swim
10 x 50 IM Order down, free back
Nice and easy, worked the body on the fly. For some reason at this point, I love swimming 25’s fly, but can’t stand 50’s… I wonder if the Christmas goose has anything to do with that?
Next was a ladder, which, through much discussion is actually a “mesa”… you’ll see why:
50 swim
100 IM
150 swim
200 pull
200 pull
150 swim
100 IM
50 swim
See…. there is no POINT at the top. I liked this simply because I got to use my paddles and pull buoy for a while. It makes me feel like I actually know how to swim again.
2 x 250 – 1 free, 2 pull, 3 kick, 4 choice
Swam through the first two 250’s and focused on a good, hard kick. I was just unable to hold the 1:25 pace, and fell about 3 seconds off by the last 50. Give’s me something to shoot for.
10 x 50 on 1:00
1st 5 are easy down, fast back
2nd 5 are fast down, easy back
I went free on the easy, and build breaststroke on the fast. Really had to focus on keeping my kick narrow and using the body when trying to sprint. The instinct says to pull and kick BIGGER and HARDER, while the brain is trying to overcome that and just continue to stay as high as possible.
