Breaststroke - Kick with a Board

We love using a board when kicking breaststroke, but using proper form matters even when doing this standard part of workout.

Why Do It:
Using proper form when kicking with a board will help teach you how to drive your energy forward.

How to Do It:
1.  Pay attention to what happens to the board when you're not thinking about your form.  Does the board tilt up drastically?  Do the head and hands bob up and down?  Our goal will be to limit this movement.
2.  Hold the board toward the front, and push the front of the board lower in the water.
3.  Keep your face lower in the water, with just your eyes above the surface.  Come up for a breath when you need to, during the recovery of the kick.
4.  Keep the board level, and moving directly forward.

How to Do It Really Well (the Fine Points):
Try to push the entire board JUST below the surface.  The goal will be to get the board parallel to the surface and flying directly forward.  Stabilizing the board out front will help teach you how to drive the body and hands forward with the kick.
