Cincinnati Bound

As a result of our 2004 summer swim camps and recent team clinics, Go Swim has had requests to hold additional clinics in different areas of the country. We think this is a great idea, because it will let us interact with more swimmers IN PERSON, rather than just on the website. We called up some friends in Cincinnati and made arrangements for pool time. So were taking our act on the road again and will be at the Keating Natatorium on October 23-24.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT THIS CLINIC?
This clinic will be different in that we try our best to meet the needs of the swimmers who attend. We feel that there cant be a canned approach to learning. That is why this clinic will be staffed with professional coaches with the ability to assess the group and to progress everyone as needed. Our coaches have been known to use humor to assist in the learning process, a new and radical technique currently being tested on willing participants. We will use small-group sessions and large-group sessions to better meet everyone needs. For example, triathletes attending our camps might not want to join a small group working on starts and turns, but would want to join a small group working on sighting. The idea is to pinpoint and address the specific needs of each swimmer.

Our goal is to teach swimmers the fundamentals, and then to help them explore and push their limits. With this in mind, our clinics will be organized as follows

Day 1: Fundamentals of Swimming $175 Day One - $325 Both Days
In every sport there are basic building blocks that allow you to be successful. Just as knowing how to dunk a basketball doesnt do you much good if you cant dribble, swimming countless laps doesn't do you much good if you don't know how to control what your body is doing. Day 1 will focus on the fundamentals and body basics of swimming for all four strokes. We use selected drills to teach fundamentals, but we prefer to teach by giving you different things to think about AS YOU SWIM. The instruction will progress as far as the group skill level allows.

Day 2: Racing Skills $175 Day Two - $325 Both Days
Once you have the fundamentals, it time to start having fun with them. Day 2 will focus on the skills needed to be competitive in the sport of swimming. Starts, turns, pushoffs, and breakouts for all four strokes are just some of the things we will cover. The instruction will be interactive and will show each person how to experiment with variations of what they already know. We will use non-conventional drills and exercises to get you to go past your norm and to find your ideal. We will also teach you how to think about certain focus points as you PRACTICE.

You may sign up for one or both days. Combined, they will give you everything you need to get the most out of your practice time in the pool.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THIS CLINIC
We wont be running a practice and we wont be doing just drills. Our goal is to combine training with learning. We want to teach you how to THINK when you swim. If you want to get the most out of this clinic, bring your thinking cap. You should also come with a healthy passion to experiment beyond the bounds of conventional swimming wisdom. A suit and towel wont hurt either.

POOL TIME
We believe that your best learning takes place in the pool. The best way to learn any new skill is to put it into practice, so we will give you as much pool time as we can book at each facility. Your time will be spent practicing and implementing the details that will help you to succeed at your level.
