Here's a fun drill if you have a chance to jump in the Endless Pool Elite, or better yet, have one for yourself.
Just like salmon swimming upstream, going through moving water is as tough as trying to regain momentum in the water once you've slowed.
This drill creates an athletic, challenging situation where a swimmer only needs to swim 3-6 strokes as fast as possible to reach the grab bar at the front.
The water speed is at, or a bit above the swimmers fastest race pace, and they're allowed to push into the flow.
Repeat this process 10 times as shown on the video, or until failure. If the swimmer makes it 10 times easily, then it's time to turn the speed of the water up.
