Freestyle - Fin Sprint

When you’re allowed to use fins to go fast in freestyle… USE them!

Why do it:
Using fins to help you go faster in freestyle isn’t just about going faster, it’s sometimes about learning how to drive through the water better with the leading edges of your body.

How to do it:
1)
Put on some fins and sprint freestyle.
2)  Have a constant kick going through the entire stroke cycle.
3)  Focus on the extension of BOTH hands, and stabilize the head position.

How to do it really well (the fine points):
Keep the kick going HARD through the entire length of the swim, don’t let a hesitation creep in.  Too many swimmers put on fins and focus on a faster turnover, use the fins to overload the legs and drive the hands into extension and allow yourself that bit of extra time to set up a powerful pull.
