Main Set Thursday - February 2, 2012 - Groundhog Practice

Inspired by Barbara's Groundhog day practice.  While maybe not as creative, it's all in the delivery.

This workout was based more on Bill Murray's starring role in the movie Groundhog Day.  If you've never seen it, I highly encourage you to take a peek.  Trailer is below.  The premise is that he's living the same day over and over again, which was basically like the workout today.

Sets can be boring.  Practices can be boring.  But when forced to do the same thing over and over again, it's up to YOU, the swimmer, to find something different to learn each time you do something.  The goal today was to encourage the swimmers to have something to think about, something different on each of the following sets.

Remember, it's all in the delivery.

Main Set(s) - Short Course Yards:
The coach says - "We're going to get started with six 100s on 1:30."

Upon completion, the coach then says - "We're going to get started with six 100s on 1:30."

Once that's done, the coach says - "We're going to get started with six 100s on 1:30."

Typically, the group catches on after the 2nd set, and it's important that they know what's going on early so they're not just going through the motions.  Just as Bill Murray learned to speak French, play piano, and learn as much as possible about every person in the town, you have ample opportunities in swimming to either repeat the same mudane laps, or learn something new every day.

Enjoy.
