Starting practice focusing on Underwater Freestyle, and then trying to carry that feeling in to longer, and increasingly faster intervals.
Sometimes, it's not as important WHAT the focus of a practice is, rather than that you have SOMETHING to think about while you're training. Starting a practice showing a specific technique, many times allows the athletes to pinpoint during standard training.
Main Set (short course yards):
• 16 x 25 on :30 - On the odds, start with 6-10 strokes of underwater freestyle, focusing on the fine points of the drill.
5 sets of the following - go straight through from set to set, no break in between:
• 3 x 50 on 1:00 - these are easy, which will become important later in the practice.
• 2 x 75 on 1:15 - start to build
• 1 x 100 on 1:15 - this interval should be challenging, and then go directly in to the 50's for the start of the next round.
