Main Set Wednesday - Counting Strokes

It starts very, very easy... but then sneaks up on you.

Being able to predetermin what stroke count and rate you'll need to be able to maintain the exact count for a long period of time... is an aquired skill.  This can build your knowledge of your stroke in longer swims, making sure you don't go out too fast.  This is especially useful in open water and triathlon swimming.

Main Set (short course yards)
 - 10 x 25 on :30 - find your stroke count... how many strokes per length you're taking.  One hand hit = one stroke count.
 - 10 x 50 on :45 - maintain the same stroke count
 - 10 x 75 on 1:05 - maintain the same stroke count
 - 10 x 100 on 1:20 - maintain the same stroke count

The longer swims come with a faster interval, so while fatigue starts to set in, you'll know if you started with the correct stroke count or not.  If you start to creep up in your count, then you've just learned a valuable lesson... you started with a bit too much ambition.
