Alternating drilling and swimming to teach better extension in Freestyle.
Using the above drill, we incorporated drilling into the workout. The idea is to learn the feel for the drill, and then maintain that while you pick up the pace in swimming.
Main Set (short course yards):
- 8 x 25 on :30 Odds hand drive - focus on head down & stable and driving the hand forward, not on pulling back. Evens swim.
- 8 x 25 on :30 descend 1 - 4
- 8 x 25 on :30 Odds hand drive - focus on head down & stable and driving the hand forward, not on pulling back. Evens swim.
- 8 x 50 on :50 descend 1 - 4
- 8 x 25 on :30 Odds hand drive - focus on head down & stable and driving the hand forward, not on pulling back. Evens swim.
- 8 x 75 on 1:10 descend 1 - 4
- 8 x 25 on :30 Odds hand drive - focus on head down & stable and driving the hand forward, not on pulling back. Evens swim.
- 8 x 50 on :50 descend 1 - 4
- 8 x 25 on :30 Odds hand drive - focus on head down & stable and driving the hand forward, not on pulling back. Evens swim.
