Swimming Question of the Week - April 13, 2011

Before you answer, think deep about this one.  There is no right or wrong answer, just looking to see if we've all been limited by our history, surroundings, or understanding.

To be honest, because some of us have been involved in the sport for decades, discovering something new is sometimes very tough.  We've carried forward the past out of habit, or comfort.  What is important is to always be listening, and watching for new ideas, techniques, and training strategies.  With the changing generations, who we all realize think and act differently... the question is developed.

What do YOU think you need to do in order to swim faster in the sport?

I know this is fairly open ended, and I wish I could get kids to answer.  However, I think it's important for anyone interested in improving to think about this one.  I think it's more than just, "I need to work harder."  If the work you're presented with doesn't excite, motivate, or entice you to be motivated about showing up, then what WOULD motivate you to show up?  Hopefully this will get some responses.  I wanna know! :)
