Dave Denniston's Breaststroke

This is an interesting sequence of Dave's breaststroke. One of the most interesting aspects of Dave’s stroke is that his feet remain back and in streamline position until his hands have completed the pull and are moving forward. As the stroke begins, Dave keeps his head hidden between his arms. He thinks about CUTTING through the water. As the stroke begins, Dave keeps his head hidden between his arms. He thinks about CUTTING through the water. As Dave’s hands start to press out to the corners, his head and feet do not move at all. Head and feet remain the same, but the hands are involved at this point. Here Dave’s hands have reached the corners, the point from which he will initiate his pull. Dave’s outsweep is wider than that of most swimmers. Only now, as Dave’s hands start to sweep IN, do we see his head start to come up to air.
