Barbara's New Year's Day workout is a do-it-yourself practice within a 200-8 framework. Use the 200-8 framework, but it up to you to decide how much yardage to do (3200 up to 8800) and what strokes to do and which toys to use during each segment.
Here the framework:

Suggestion #1: Do 8 X 25 each time you get to 8 X ??. This would give you 3200 yards. One possibility is to do the 200s as freestyle and do the 8 X 25s in IM order. Or do the 200s as IM and the 8 X 25s as freestyle or drill or kick or some other stroke.
Suggestion #2: Do 8 X 50 each time. This is 4800 yards.
Suggestion #3: Do 8 X 75 each time. This is 6400 yards.
Suggestion #4: Do X 100 each time. This is 8000 yards.
Suggestion #5: Do 8 X 258 X 508 X 758 X 1008 X 1258 X 1508 X 1758 X 200. This is 8800 yards.
Suggestion #6: Keep the 8 X ?? on a 30-second base per 25, but do a descending sendoff on the 1 X 200s. Or keep the 1 X 200s on the same sendoff but descend time throughout the set.
Suggestion #7: Do the 1 X 200s as pull or as IM with fins or as kick with fins.
Suggestion #8: Use a Tempo Trainer on the 1 X 200s and increase the cadence by :05 on each 1 X 200.
You get the idea. Use your imagination. Use all your toys. Decide how youll do the set before you get to the pool so you can move right through the workout. Have fun and Happy New Year!
